Here is an incredible double sided enamel on steel sign that has one of the most iconic images ever to be used in cigarette advertising. With the central character of the sailor in the middle with his HERO cap and a warship on either side it is just stunning to see the level of detail that was achieved in the enamelling process.
Everything about this sign shows staggering detail from the twisted rope around the central image right down to the flags flying on the ships to the waves in the sea. This sign looks to have been professionally reflanged at some time in its life but apart from that it has somehow survived unscathed from touch-ups.
The sign measures 20 inches in height by 15 inches wide (51cm high by 38cm wide).
